INTELLIDANCE/Parented Classes
Ages 0-5
Intellidance® is a playful and creative approach to movement and music education in the early years. The programs are based on current best practices and recommendations in early childhood development and education, coupled with child and caregiver-approved fun!
The program model combines exploration and discovery with dance, music, and play designed to nurture our littlest dancers, while strengthening the caregiver-child bond!
Intellidance® is a unique series of creative dance programs created to foster critical development in children ages 0-5. Research shows that dance and music activities offered in a loving, safe, multi-sensory environment enhance life-long learning and neural development.
All Intellidance® classes are non-performance classes.
All classes will run in 6 week sessions.
LITTE LEARNERS
Where it all starts
Ages 3-6
These classes are designed to inspire an early love and passion for dance. Our 30 or 45 minute classes will focus on creative play, body awareness, class structure, and imagination. Basic dance technique will be presented in a fun and creative method throughout the program.
The Little Learners programs will be available in full year or sessional options. Sessional classes will be clearly labeled.

DEVELOPMENT
Acquiring the basics and having fun
Ages 7+
Our Development Program focuses on instilling the love of dance and developing basic technical skills. These classes are designed to increase body awareness, musicality, basic skill development and instilling the love of dance.

PRE-COMPETITIVE
For an introduction to the competitive dance program
Ages 5+
Our Pre-Competitive Program focuses strongly on building technique and creating a desire for performing.
There are some prerequisite classes for Pre-Competitive classes, and supplemental classes are strongly encouraged.

COMPETITIVE
For the disciplined and determined
Ages 6+
These classes are designed for the dancer who is passionate about performing and mastering their technique. Competitive classes require a serious commitment from dancers and parents. Competitive dancers will have the opportunity to perform in extra choreography alongside their registered classes.
Technique classes are required to be involved in our competitive program. Competitive classes require an assessment or recommendation from our Faculty.

Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Acro and Hip Hop.

CLASS GENRES
Ballet
Ballet is the basis and foundation of all dance forms. Students wishing to excel in any other programs should have a strong ballet foundation. Ballet training provides dancers with the opportunity to develop grace, poise, discipline, self confidence, and body awareness.
Acro
Acro at SS follows the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus for training our students. Acro is a nonperforming, technique-based program. All Acro students will train extensively on their strength and flexibility to build a strong foundation to achieve acrobatic skills. Acrobatic Arts has developed an amazing program to bring gymnastics and contortion elements into the dance world.
All Acro classes are technique only with no performance. Pre Competitive and Competitive Acro is only available for dancers with certain required skills. Any dancer in Pre Comp or Competitive Acro also needs to be in an approved jazz class.
Lyrical/Contemporary
These are choreography based classes focusing on story telling, performance, innovative lifts, and teamwork. These classes pull technique from Ballet and Jazz.
Jazz
Jazz includes an energetic warmup, stretching, technical foundations, jumps, kicks, and turns. Jazz choreography can come from many forms of inspiration and can vary from Broadway style to Jazz Funk to contemporary Jazz. Jazz classes are fast paced and high energy.
Tap
SS follows the Al Gilbert syllabus for Tap Technique. Tap focuses on intricate rhythms, exciting choreography, musicality, and showmanship. Tap classes may participate in Tap Exams if the instructor thinks they are ready.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is an energetic class that teaches skills involving diverse styles and trends. Our instructors will focus on the proper techniques that make up Hip Hop dance and provide innovative choreography that will please anyone looking for a challenge.
Hip Hop has really opened up dance to a world stage and has bridged the gap between many styles. Hip Hop is ever-changing and exciting to watch and perform.
Musical Theatre
These classes will focus on character development, acting, lip syncing, and singing. Musical Theatre classes are a great way to showcase a dancers ability to perform and take on a roll as another character.
Jazz Technique
This class is a non-performance technique based class focusing on properly developing our dancers. This class will challenge our dancers to reach for their technical goals and achieve new skills. Jazz technique will consist of drills, progressions across the floor, jumps, kicks, turns, and tricks.
Cecchetti
This class is a non-performance technique based class. Students will have the opportunity to study Grade 1 to Advanced 2 of the Cecchetti Method. Students will participate in Cecchetti Exams.
